Siskowic family will enjoy a 'reunion' at Saturday's game

YOUNGSTOWN -- Saturday will be homecoming for Youngstown State and for a member of the opponent.
Illinois State freshman linebacker Cameron Siskowic is a resident of San Diego, Calif., but he has a lot of family in the Valley.
Siskowic, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound backup linebacker for the Redbirds, transferred to Illinois State after a redshirt season as a walk-on at Washington State in 2002.
He is the grandson of Struthers native Sam Siskowic.
The Siskowic family is originally from Salem, where both of Cameron's great-grandparents, John and Martha Siskowic, excelled in high school athletics. John moved to Struthers in 1927 and taught at the high school for 35 years. He also went to the College of Wooster and played on the team that tied Ohio State 7-7 in 1924. John was a coach on Struthers' undefeated team in 1930.
Four of John and Martha's sons -- John Jr., Sam, Dave and Paul -- all played on Struthers championship teams for Howdy Heldman and Red Phillips from 1946-56.
All four boys also graduated from the College of Wooster. John Jr. was an All-Ohio halfback and Sam was an outstanding linebacker.
Cameron is Sam's grandson. His father, Dan Siskowic, passed away a year ago after a battle with cancer and never got a chance to see his son play college football.
Family still in area
Several of the Siskowic family still reside in the area and have never met Cameron since he grew up in California. At least 10 members of the family are expected Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium.
Diane Drawl (Siskowic) of Cortland, who is a YSU graduate, and Dave Siskowic of Canfield will be there, along with Cameron's great uncle, Paul Siskowic who just returned to Ohio.
Cameron Siskowic has played in all eight games for the Redbirds this season and has made 16 tackles, nine of them solo tackles.
