Mayor says he has paid for use of cell phone

WASHINGTONVILLE -- Mayor Michael Donnalley said he has paid the village in full for his use of a cellular phone, and he won't comment about the politics of the situation until after the Nov. 4 election.
Donnalley is opposed in his re-election bid for mayor by village resident Eva Delmont.
A former village councilman, Donnalley was appointed mayor by council after former Mayor Charles Morrow resigned in December 2001 to retire and move to Florida.
Morrow, however, has attended recent village council meetings complaining about Donnalley's personal use of the cellular phone. He claims Donnalley has not reimbursed the village.
Donnalley said that before the village even bought the cellular phone contract, he discussed his use of the phone with council.
He said that if allowed to use the phone for both village and personal business, he would reimburse the village for any charges over the monthly minutes package.
He said he has not only paid the overages but the entire bill in full.
