HERMITAGE Former coach, dean released from custody

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Joseph M. Votino, the former basketball coach and dean of students at Kennedy Catholic High School sent to prison for corrupting the morals of a minor, has been released from custody.
David Acker, his attorney, said Votino, 46, completed his two-year prison sentence handed down in Mercer County Common Pleas Court and was released.
Acker said he doesn't know where Votino is living or if he is working.
The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections said Votino ended his sentence Aug. 30 and was released with no parole requirements.
Votino, who was living in Masury at the time and is believed to have returned to this area, pleaded guilty in August 2001, admitting to having sexual relations with three 17-year-old Kennedy female students between spring 2000 and April 2001.
Kennedy suspended him on April 9, 2001, shortly after rumors surfaced about his behavior, and then fired him May 18 of that year based on its own investigation.
