Event has a crop of scarecrows

Cy Lutz, greenhouse manager at Inglis Greenhouse in Boardman, above, sets up for the Scarecrow Festival. Fifty local elementary school classrooms and scouting groups made the scarecrows for this weekend's festival. A Poland Union fourth-grade class went with a peace theme with their entry, left. Members of the public can vote for their favorite entry with canned goods to be donated to the Second Harvest Foodbank. The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the greenhouse on Southern Boulevard.
