BUSCH RACING Biffle gains pole for Aaron's 312 race

He's coming off a victory last week where he won by more than 12 seconds.
HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) -- Greg Biffle extended his tear through the Busch Series, winning the pole for the Aaron's 312 on Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Two weeks ago, Biffle blistered the field at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C., winning by more than 12 seconds, the largest margin of victory this season. He has the same Chevrolet this weekend, and so far, so good -- he set a track record with a lap of 192.300 mph.
Harvick a close second
He edged fellow Winston Cup driver Kevin Harvick by 0.037 seconds, and it's the second straight pole for the No. 7 car owned by Joe Nemechek.
David Reutimann accomplished the feat last week at Memphis, with Biffle in Martinsville for the Winston Cup event.
"When Kevin laid down that lap, I didn't think anybody would beat it," Biffle said. "I've been pretty fortunate to drive a car that handles that well."
David Green, who trails Brian Vickers by 23 points in the chase for the title, qualified third, followed by Casey Mears and Vickers. Bobby Hamilton Jr., Jason Leffler, Hank Parker Jr., Kyle Busch and Todd Bodine rounded out the top 10.
"We were 99.2 percent perfect, Harvick was 99.9 and Biffle was 100 percent," Green said. "It was a great effort. This is a big deal for us to come to the big tracks and qualify up front."
Other contenders well back
The rest of the championship contenders didn't fare as well as Green and Vickers. Jason Keller (26th), Ron Hornaday (21st) and Scott Riggs (16th) all are within 44 points of the top spot.
For now, they're far behind the top two.
"It's not the end of the race, but still, we set out every week to do the best we can, and I think it sets a tone for the rest of the weekend," Green said.
Biffle's performance left him complaining about his car in the Winston Cup garage. In practice earlier in the day for that series, he was only 25th fastest.
"I can't get my Winston Cup car to even go around the corner like I can my Busch car," he said. "I can't figure it out."
