New pastor named
COLUMBIANA -- Grace United Church of Christ, 140 S. Main St., has a new pastor, the Rev. Mike Boehm, who will preach his initial sermon at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. He comes from Spencer, Ohio, where he was pastor of the Chatham Community Church. He was previously a hospital accountant.
Musicians to perform
AUSTINTOWN -- Grant & amp; Sally Ministries Inc. of Loudonville, Ohio, will present praise music at 8 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday in West Austintown First United Methodist Church, 6749 Mahoning Ave. To date, the husband and wife team have produced four albums of original music.
78th anniversary
STRUTHERS -- Pilgrim Baptist Church, 67 McClurg Road, will celebrate its 78th church anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday. Brother Jovan White will be preaching his trial sermon at 4 p.m.
25th anniversary
FARRELL -- Bruce Richael of Bible Ministries Inc. will have a three-day 25th Anniversary Celebration in Love Christian Center, 411 Hamilton Ave. It begins at 7 p.m. Friday with guest speaker, the Rev. Mildred Mabe, pastor of Full Gospel Church, Fredericksburg, Va. There will be music at 7 p.m. next Saturday and the speaker, the Rev. Shirley L. Dixon, an evangelist from Gloucester, Va. At 10:30 a.m. Nov. 2, the guest speaker will be the Rev. Herbert W. Dixon, also an evangelist from Gloucester.
The final service will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 with the Rev. Bob Schrecengost of Voice of Tomorrow Ministries in Cleveland.
First anniversary
CAMPBELL -- Shiloh Baptist Church, 238 Bright Ave., will celebrate the first anniversary its pastor, Rev. Hubert D. Clardy Jr. and first lady Doreen Clardy on Nov. 2. The theme is "We've Come this far by Faith." The Rev. Lonnie Simon will speak at the 11 a.m. service. The Rev. Willie Peterson will speak at 3 p.m.
Eucharistic devotion
YOUNGSTOWN -- Solemn Eucharistic Devotion will be celebrated Nov. 9 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, 252 E. Wood St. The schedule is: service, 10:30 a.m.; adoration, 11:30 a.m.- 4 p.m.; closing service with procession at 4 p.m.
Buddhist benefit
YOUNGSTOWN -- New World Citizens for Peace will have a fund-raiser to support the education of Buddhist nuns in India who have fled Tibet. All proceeds will go to the Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery, a project of Tenzin Palmo, a British-born Tibetan Buddhist who spent 14 years in a retreat in a cave in the Himalayas. Palmo, a pioneer in the spiritual rights of women, now lectures on inner peace.
"A Cave in the Snow," a movie about Palmo, will be show at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the First Unitarian Church, 1105 Elm St. Discussion will follow. A dance featuring music from the '70s, '80s and '90s is at 9 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Satellite seminars
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two satellite seminars are being offered at Christ Church Presbyterian, 1933 Canfield Road, Youngstown.
"Why God Uses Some People More Than Others" is from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. It will feature Chip Ingram, president of Walk Thru the Bible Ministries. A women's conference on spiritual intimacy, "Extraordinary Woman," will feature speakers from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Saturday. Preregistraion is requested. Call (330) 782-2611.
