Police probe death of boy in apartment

AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy Wednesday evening in a Compass West apartment.
The boy was found in his bed about 7:35 p.m. Wednesday by his mother's boyfriend.
The boyfriend told police he had just arrived at the apartment and found that the boy was not breathing and his skin was blue. The boy also had blood in his throat, police said. The boyfriend said he performed CPR on the child until paramedics arrived.
The boy's mother told police she had gone next door about five minutes before her boyfriend arrived. Her 6-year-old daughter was also in the apartment.
The mother said the boy appeared to be in good health earlier in the day.
An autopsy was scheduled for today.
