Halloween is coming; ghoul times begin

Hayrides are on tap in Boardman and Campbell.
Some Halloween activities in this area and in Slippery Rock, Pa., are scheduled this week and weekend.
A free trick-or-treat activity will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at The Shops at Boardman Park. Children 12 and under can pick up their free treat bag in front of Party Max, Target or Bath & amp; Body Works to canvas The Shops for goodies at all stores.
Children will have the chance to visit with their favorite costumed characters, who will be passing out free treats and popcorn. Free hayrides will be available from 5 to 8 p.m.
Slippery Rock
In Slippery Rock, Pa., the ghosts of Halloween past, present and future will assemble at Slippery Rock University's Old Stone House from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday as part of the facility's traditional "Halloween at the Old Stone House" program, offering storytelling and tours.
The tales -- ghost stories and small plays -- will be offered by SRU students along with members of the Brookville Storytellers Guild and Knox High School students. Storytellers will lead guests through the house as part of the program.
The Old Stone House, at the intersection of Pa. Routes 8, 528 and 173, three miles south of Slippery Rock, is one of Butler County's most recognized landmarks.
Campbell hayride
In Campbell, the fourth annual Tony Landis Haunted Hayride will be from 6-10 p.m. Sunday at Roosevelt Park. Donation for the hayride is $1.
A dance will be from 8 to 10 p.m. at the park's community center with DJ Brandon providing the music. Refreshments will be available and 50/50 and craft raffles are scheduled.
