MINERAL RIDGE -- Weathersfield School District's general purpose financial statements for the fiscal year that ended June 30 have been filed with the Ohio auditor's office.
Those reports can be viewed at the district treasurer's office, 3750 N. Main St.
Warren Family Missionplans health, safety fair
WARREN -- A health and safety fair is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Warren Family Mission, 361 Elm Road N.E., as part of National Make a Difference Day.
There will be screenings for blood sugar, blood pressure and other health issues, as well as health and safety materials.
Among the participants will be the city police and fire departments, an asthma van and a mammovan.

Annual birdseed sale
WARREN -- Trumbull Area Multipurpose Environmental Education Laboratory is having its annual birdseed sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 22 and Jan. 24 at Howland Park. Prices range from $1.75 for suet cake to $14.50 for a 50-pound bag of black oil sunflower seed.
'Critical' after shooting
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tanisha Wainwright, 19, of Hilton Avenue was in critical condition today in St. Elizabeth Health Center with a gunshot wound of the back.
Wainwright was a passenger in her friend's car Sunday afternoon, parked near Pearl Street on the city's East Side, when a man they know, Jordan M. Robinson, 19, got in the back seat, reports show.
As the three talked, a gun fired, police said.
Robinson, of North Pearl Street, was later found and arrested on charges of felonious assault and mishandling a firearm in a motor vehicle.
Robinson told police the shooting was an accident.
4 report being abductedfrom Elm Street, robbed
YOUNGSTOWN -- Four or more gunmen wearing ski masks, gloves, bulletproof vests and black clothes with yellow police lettering on the front of their shirts forced a man and three women into a van on Elm Street about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, reports show.
The victims told police they were driven around for 20 minutes then placed in a mobile home, handcuffed to a "contraption" in the floor, and questioned about the whereabouts of someone "maybe from the Cleveland area" whose name they could not remember.
At 4:30 a.m. Sunday, the four were returned to the 900 block of Elm. The episode was reported to police at 10 a.m.
Reports show a variety of items stolen from the victims, including cash, cell phones, cigarettes, gold chain, credit cards and more.
Seeking donations
NORTH JACKSON -- Representatives of the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department will go door-to-door to township homes in the next few weeks seeking $20 donations to help pay for fire department equipment, according to Fire Chief Wayne McDougal.
Donors will be given a complimentary certificate entitling them to have an 11-by-14-inch color family photograph taken at the fire station, 229 N. Salem-Warren Road, between 2 and 8 p.m. Nov. 21, he said.
Divorce clinic offered
FARRELL, Pa. -- A session called Divorce Clinic is being offered through the Farrell office of Northwest Legal Services from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Contact AWARE Legal Advocate program, (724) 662-3800, Ext. 2542.
Seminars are offered to educate victims of domestic violence about available options and local resources. One of the goals is to help the victim of domestic violence empower herself through knowledge.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Junior Scholars Program
ALLIANCE -- Mount Union College will host the Junior Scholars Program on Tuesday.
This is the 18th year for the program, in which about 100 gifted high school juniors and seniors are invited to campus to participate in 90-minute sessions led by Mount Union College faculty.
MUC invited 10 area high schools.
The program's goal is to present ideas that are not normally included in the high-school curriculum, let gifted students interact with other students of the same ability, to expose students to the academic and intellectual challenges offered on college campuses, and to allow an opportunity for in-depth exploration into a specific interest area.
