PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- A female soccer referee officiated a top Czech league game Saturday for the first time.
Dagmar Damkova worked the game between Liberec and Ceske Budejovice after being selected by the country's soccer federation earlier this week.
"She's the first, but I am sure she's not the last one," Liberec director Libor Kleibl said.
Damkova, a 28-year-old English teacher, debuted in the top league as a lines-woman in May -- the first Czech woman in that position, too. She has refereed eight games in the second division.
Nicole Petignat of Switzerland became the first woman to referee a UEFA men's game, a UEFA Cup qualifier in August between Sweden's AIK Solna and Iceland's Fylkir.
Arsenal beat Chelsea 2-1 Saturday to replace it atop the English Premier League.
The teams were tied until, with 15 minutes left, Chelsea goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini went to scoop up the ball but let it slip away. It went off Arsenal's Thierry Henry and into the net.
Arsenal had taken a 1-0 lead when Edu's 25-yard free kick deflected off Ray Parlour and went in after just four minutes. It took Chelsea only three minutes to tie on Hernan Crespo's goal.
Arsenal has 23 standings points, defending champion Manchester United has 22, and Chelsea dropped to third with 20.
Manchester United beat Leeds 1-0 on Roy Keane's header.
In other games Saturday, Manchester City beat Bolton 6-2, Portsmouth edged Liverpool 1-0, Fulham tied Wolves 0-0, and Newcastle topped Middlesbrough 1-0.
