VOLLEYBALL Fitch and Boardman advance to district



Lakeview won a sectional title while Western Reserve upset Maplewood.
STOW -- Maggie Case scored 10 points with two aces and made 12 kills, nine digs and two blocks Saturday as the Austintown Fitch High volleyball team cruised past Kent Roosevelt, 15-4, 15-4, to win a Division I sectional tournament title.
Jessica Evans scored seven points and made eight kills, 11 digs and one block for the Falcons (19-4). Jenn Drabison had five points, three kills and two blocks.
Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Stow-Munroe Falls High School, Fitch will play Stow in a district semifinal match.
Boardman 15-7-15, Akron Ellet 5-15-7
STOW -- Whitney Tressel scored 17 points and made three kills and five digs for the Spartans. Krysta Sylvester had 13 kills and 11 digs while Courtney Masternick had four points, five kills and four blocks.
Boardman will play Hudson in the district semifinal on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Division II
JEFFERSON -- Kate Barnett scored 13 points with two aces as Lakeview (22-1) defeated Ashtabula Edgewood, 15-4, 15-4.
Lauren McCumber made nine kills and three blocks, Whitney Keyser made nine kills and Megan Taylor made 18 assists and scored two aces.
Tuesday at 6 p.m., the third-seeded Bulldogs play second-seeded Mentor Lake Catholic.
Division IV
LISBON -- Rachael Hernan scored 15 points with five aces and Katie Harmon made 19 assists as Western Reserve (12-12) upset third-seeded Maplewood, 15-13, 15-2.
Andrea Martin made seven kills and 10 digs.
Jackson-Milton 9-15-15, Bristol 15-12-7
LISBON -- Megan Whitmer scored 13 points with six aces and made 13 assists for the fourth-seeded Bluejays (13-10). Lacie Campbell made 13 kills and five blocks.
Windham 15-15, East Canton 5-8
LISBON -- Beth Simpson scored 14 points for top-seeded Windham.
Lordstown 15-15, Sebring 1-13
LISBON -- Alycia Isreal scored 13 points with five aces for second-seeded Lordstown (21-2). Mallory Schneider lead the Trojans (7-14) with three points and seven assists.
