Rookie's spree jazzes team to 87-86 victory



SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Rookie Aleksandar Pavlovic scored 17 points in 18 minutes to lead the Utah Jazz to an 87-86 preseason win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.
Pavlovic, who was 6-of-7 from the field, made a lay-up with 16 seconds left on a pass from Andrei Kirilenko to give Utah an 85-84 lead. Raja Bell then added two free throws with five seconds left to up the Jazz lead to 87-84.
Pavlovic, Utah's first-round draft pick, had never scored more than 10 in the Jazz's previous four preseason games.
Carlos Arroyo scored 14 points for Utah while Greg Ostertag, Keon Clark and Raja Bell each added 10.
Marc Jackson led Philadelphia with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Derrick Coleman and Eric Snow each scored 13 for Philadelphia, which played without guard Allen Iverson.
Iverson did not travel with the team to Utah for personal reasons not disclosed by the team. Iverson left the team on Thursday and is expected to miss Saturday's game at Dallas before rejoining the team when the 76ers play New Orleans on Monday, in Norfolk, Va.
Utah had 12 turnovers to Philadelphia's 21.
