KEYSTONE CLIPS Agriculture, veterinary grads get reduced loans if they stay

Graduates of Pennsylvania agriculture and veterinary medicine programs can reduce their student loan burden if they promise to stay in the state after graduation and find full-time employment in the operation of a family farm, family farm corporation or a veterinary practice.
The program is administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency and affects only PHEAA guaranteed loans. It will forgive up to $10,000 in loans at the rate of $2,000 per year.
Agriculture remains Pennsylvania's No. 1 industry, and the Agriculture Education Loan Forgiveness Program can help ease the debt burden on young Pennsylvanians working in farming and veterinary medicine, said Sen. Robert Robbins of Greenville, R-50th.
Applications are available through his district offices or directly from PHEAA at (717) 720-2800.
