INTER-COUNTY LEAGUE Damore-to-Dickson pass nets McDonald 13-12 win
The comeback victory over Lowellville dealt a blow to the Rockets' playoff hopes.
LOWELLVILLE -- McDonald football player Mike Dickson caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from Callen Damore with about three minutes remaining in Friday's game to give the Blue Devils a 13-12 win over Lowellville.
The loss deals a severe blow to the Rockets' playoff hopes. Lowellville is the number-nine team in this week's Division VI Region 21 computer playoff ratings.
An extra-point kick by Jon Camuso in the first quarter proved to be crucial for the Blue Devils (5-4, 5-1).
Andrew Presco scored on a 17-yard run to give McDonald a 6-0 lead. Camuso's placement made it 7-0.
Brian Wharry plunged a yard for Lowellville's second-quarter touchdown to cut the deficit to a point.
Jeff Peterson, who rushed for 116 yards on 15 carries, scored on a 58-yard run to put Lowellville on top 12-7 in the third period.
The Rockets (6-3, 3-3) rushed for 262 yards on 47 tries and they were 3 of 8 passing for 28.
McDonald rushed for 133 yards and passed for 122.
Springfield 20, Jackson-Milton 7
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Aaron Wood caught a 3-yard TD pass from Mason McCambridge to give Springfield a 6-0 lead.
In the third quarter, Wood caught a 3-yard pass from Andrew Schuler, who was 7 of 9 for 85 yards. The two also combined for a two-point conversion.
Zack Kosa caught a 16-yard TD strike from Zack Nicholas for Jackson-Milton (3-6, 2-4 ICL).
