ICL First-place Clippers win, stay unbeaten



United, Lisbon and Crestview won by substantial margins.
EAST PALESTINE -- Chris Harmon and Adam Fast scored two touchdowns apiece Friday as the Columbiana High football team rolled to its eighth straight victory, 49-3 over East Palestine.
Harmon, a junior fullback, finished with 126 yards on 17 carries, sophomore Mike Welce picked up 64 on six attempts and Andrew Peacock added 64 on two tries.
The Clippers (6-0 Tri-County League) gained 416 of their 468 yards on the ground. They are the number six team in this week's Division V Region 17 computer ratings and clinched a tie for the league crown.
Austin Couchenour and Drew Wagner also accounted for touchdowns.
Peacock, an outside linebacker, picked off two East Palestine passes, including one he returned 60 yards for a touchdown.
Palestine had six turnovers -- four interceptions and two fumbles.
Other Columbiana players intercepting were Fast and Dave Rice.
Eric Birnesser kicked five PATs for the Clippers.
Of East Palestine's 176 yards, fullback Ralph Lattanzio gained 88 yards on 14 tries.
United 31, Southern 12
HANOVERTON -- Corey Manfull rushed for 48 yards on 11 carries, which included TD runs of 15 and 9 yards for the Golden Eagles (7-3, 5-1 TCL).
He also caught a 31-yard TD strike from Mitch Phillis, who was 12 of 23 for 176 yards.
Doug Hill returned an intercepted pass 20 yards for a TD and he also scored on a 19-yard run.
The Indians (1-8, 0-6) rushed for 78 yards and passed for 73.
The Golden Eagles had 137 rushing yards.
Lisbon 39, Sebring 13
LISBON -- Jay Yorty ran for a pair of touchdowns, passed for another score, and rushed for 114 yards in nine carries, to power Lisbon (8-1, 5-1 TCL). The Blue Devils are the No. 9 team in this week's Div. V Region 17 computer playoff ratings.
Yorty scored on runs of 14 and 8 yards and hit Jacob Wycoff with a 5-yard TD pass.
Frank Gallo rushed for 90 yards in 10 carries, including a 1-yard TD plunge, to aid the Blue Devils.
Yorty wound up 3-for-6 passing for 38 yards.
Josh Hines led Sebring (1-8, 0-6) with 100 yards rushing in 15 carries, and he also caught a 23-yard TD strike from Dave Dickens, who was 3-for-17 for 39 yards.
Crestview 45, Leetonia 7
COLUMBIANA --The Rebels (3-6, 3-3) rushed out to a 28-0 lead by halftime and never looked back. The Bears (6-3, 3-3) lost for the second time in a row.
