SENIOR SIDELIGHTS For all seniors
Austintown Fitch High School students will hold a Senior Appreciation Dinner for senior citizens of Austintown at 4 p.m. Oct. 29 in the school cafeteria. The menu will feature turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas and peach cobbler. Cost is $2 to be collected at the door. SCOPE Howland Senior Center, 9273 High St. N.E., Warren, activities are as follows: Monday, Genealogy on the Web group at 11 a.m. and Gourmet Cooking group at 11:30; Tuesday, strength training at 10 a.m., book club at 11:30 and trip to Cleveland for "Chicago" at 3:45 p.m., cost is $85; Thursday, Green Thumb Gardeners at 10:30 a.m. and ABC lunch at 11:30 a.m., reservations are required; and Friday, strength training at 9 a.m., tai chi at 10 (cost is $5) and chess at 10:30. Luncheon with township administrators is set for noon to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 29, and a Halloween party will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 30. A mystery bus tour is planned for 8:30 a.m. Oct. 31. SCOPE Warren Senior Center, 220 W. Market St., will sponsor a bus trip to Shakespeare's Castle in Ellwood City, Pa., Dec. 2, including a tour of Daffin's Candy Factory in Farrell, Pa., lunch, a guided tour of the castle and a visit to Kraynak's in Hermitage, Pa. The bus will leave the center at 9 a.m. and return about 4:30 p.m. The cost for the entire day is $40, and reservations are required by Nov. 26. For more information call the center, (330) 399-8846.
