RECOGNITION Heart Walk awards will honor participants



BOARDMAN -- The American Heart Association will recognize American Heart Walk sponsors, top teams and top walkers during an awards reception Wednesday at Clear Channel Radio.
For the first time, the Heart Walk for Mahoning, Columbiana, and Trumbull Counties was held at one site, the Youngstown State University track. The event raised $144,266 to support heart and stroke research and community programs such as Operation Stroke and Search Your Heart, a risk reduction program targeted to culturally diverse congregations.
UTop 10 walkers for the 2003 walk were Carren Chamberlin, Brian Murphy, Mary Ellen Kavoklis, Ryleigh Groom, Joseph Nohra, Janie Zitkovic, Lee Wise, Melissa Miller, Thomas Hollern and Roberta Lenhart.
UTop teams raising over $7,500 were Heart & amp; Vascular Center at St. Elizabeth Health Center, Heart Throbs, Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield and Mended Hearts Inc. Teams raising over $2,500 were Blessed Sacrament, The Heart Hospital of Forum Health, Salem Community Hospital and the Heart Hospital of Northeastern Ohio.
UThe top five Friends teams were Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Team Olivia Pushak, Boardman Local Schools, Landmark Real Estate Services and Diagnostic Cardiology Associates.
UWinner of the Top Heart Dog challenge was Cody Bafunno.
