PREP VOLLEYBALL Top four Division II seeds still alive for district play



Top-seeded Salem will battle third-seeded Poland on Tuesday.
BOARDMAN -- With Salem and Hubbard winning Division II sectional volleyball matches Thursday, the top four seeds in the tournament will play in district semifinals Tuesday at Boardman High.
The top-seeded Quakers will face No. 3 seed Poland (17-3) Tuesday at 7 p.m., and Hubbard, the No. 2 seed, will face No. 4 seed Crestwood (11-8) at 8 p.m.
Salem 15-15, Liberty 3-3
Jillian Barry paced the top-seeded Quakers (10-4) with nine points, an ace and 21 assists. Lauren Teal had eight kills and a block, and Sarah Hamilton six points, one ace, five kills and two blocks.
Amy Markowitz led the Leopards (10-13) with four points, one ace and two kills.
Hubbard 15-15, Southeast 9-8
Terri Hassel led the Eagles (21-3) with five points, two aces, 15 assists and 11 digs. Diana Conzett had seven points and nine kills.
Kelly Graham scored six points for the Pirates (9-8). Jessica Hines added five points.
Canton South 15-15,West Branch 10-5
CANTON -- Ashley Armstrong led West Branch (14-10) with five points, two saves, six kills and four assists in a Div. II sectional final at South. Eve Woods added three points, seven kills and seven blocks, while Dena New had three points, one block and 10 assists.
Div. III
LEAVITTSBURG -- Erin Stevens had 19 assists, two aces and eight serving points for Girard, which won a sectional final over LaBrae, 15-6, 15-11, at LaBrae Middle School.
Nicole Melfi had a perfect 5-for-5 in serve receiving for the Indians, while Elise Roscoe added nine kills and Lee McLane seven digs.
Girard will play Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in a district semifinal Monday at 7:30 p.m.
