2003 Catholic Charities Voice of Hope dinner Friday, Leo's Ristorante & amp; Banquet Center, Warren. Theme: "Lighting the Darkness" Schedule: A silent auction and cocktail hour, 5:30 p.m.; dinner, 6:30 p.m. with music by the John Reese Project. The Rev. J. Bryan Hehir, president of Catholic Charities USA will speak. 2003 Voice of Hope Awards will be presented to Dr. Paul A. Wright, Mother of Sorrows Parish in Ashtabula, and the Hispanic Outreach Ministry of All Saints and St. Anthony parishes in Canton. A commitment ceremony, 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Sisters of the Humility of Mary's Magnificat Chapel at Villa Maria, Pa., to accept nine new associates in the Humility of Mary. The new associates are: Loretta Parsons of Poland; Ethel E. Krupa, J. Virginia Montozzi and Loretta M. Tatarka, all of Villa Maria, Pa.; Brian Kuhn of Edinburg, Pa.; Roz Mittendorf of Lorain; Kathleen A. O'Malley of Louisville; and Cathy Rake and Sue Ellen Turscak, both of Hudson. The program, which began in 1985, will have 71 participants. Involvement does not require vows or communal living. The associates are financially independent of the order and participate in its mission as they are able. Guests are asked to donate to one of the housing ministries of Emmanuel Community Care Center in Girard.
The Rev. Susan R. Andrews, the first female parish pastor elected as moderator of the 215th General Assembly of Presbyterian Church U.S.A., will address a presbytery Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave. N.W. Warren. The moderator is the liaison between the congregations and the denomination's governing body. Schedule: reception, 4 p.m.; talk, 5 p.m.

Hallelujah Harvest Fest featuring Treat Trek 2003, 4:45-8:45 p.m. Oct. 25 at Believers Christian Fellowship, 2577 Schenley Ave. N.W., Warren. Free nonthreatening costume party for children age 5-12 with games, puppets, music, candy, snacks, hayrides (weather permitting), a pumpkin for every child, a seasonal Gospel presentation and a costume contest. ANNIVERSARIES
Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, 185th anniversary celebration, 9:30 a.m. Oct. 26. The settlers began meeting in 1818. They met at the town hall until 1833, when the church was built. The stained-glass windows are the original memorial windows. The service will be followed by fellowship, a luncheon and a presentation.
Cortland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 153 Grove Drive, Cortland, 175th anniversary, 10:30 a.m. Nov. 2. The Rev. Dr. Edward Bartunek, pastor of the church from 1949-54 will preach. A dinner will follow. The church began in the fall of 1828 in what was called Baconsburg. It first met in the barn of Samuel Bacon, then in a schoolhouse and from 1837-53 in a building on Main Street.
