EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Sergei Brylin scored with two seconds remaining in regulation for New Jersey. Jay Pandolfo also scored for New Jersey, and Martin Brodeur made 12 saves. Nik Antropov and Darcy Tucker scored second-period goals for the Maple Leafs. Ed Belfour finished with 31 saves.
Lightning 5, Coyotes 1
TAMPA, Fla. -- Martin St. Louis and Jassen Cullimore scored 25 seconds apart in the second period as Tampa Bay spoiled Phoenix's bid for its first 4-0 start in franchise history. St. Louis put the Lightning up 2-1 during a power play at 8:07. Cullimore made it a two-goal game, scoring from close range at 8:32. Brad Lukowich scored his first goal in 71 games for Tampa Bay. Mike Johnson scored for Phoenix.
Thrashers 0, Rangers 0
NEW YORK -- Pasi Nurminen stopped 29 shots for Atlanta, and New York counterpart Mike Dunham turned aside 30. It was the first scoreless tie in the five-season history of the Thrashers. The four-game unbeaten streak matches a franchise high. New York (0-2-1) became the last team in the Eastern Conference to earn a point in the standings. But the Rangers haven't scored in 157 minutes, 13 seconds.
Red Wings 3, Canucks 2
DETROIT -- Ray Whitney broke a tie with 1:06 remaining and Dominik Hasek made 36 saves as Detroit extended its winning streak to three games. Detroit also got goals from Brendan Shanahan and Nicklas Lidstrom. Mathieu Schneider had two assists. Dan Cloutier made 28 saves for Vancouver (2-2-0-0), which got goals from Markus Naslund and Marek Malik.
Avalanche 5, Wild 2
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Peter Forsberg had a goal and an assist, and Teemu Selanne scored his first goal for Colorado. Forsberg scored the first of three second-period goals for the Avalanche, who beat the Wild for the 12th time in 16 regular season games. John-Michael Liles and Milan Hejduk also scored in the second for the Avalanche. David Aebischer stopped 21 shots for Colorado to send the Wild to their third loss of the season. Andrei Nikolishin also scored. Alexandre Daigle and Darby Hendrickson scored for the Wild.
Predators 4, Blues 1
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Jordin Tootoo got his first NHL point and Marek Zidlicky scored a power-play goal and assisted on another. Tootoo assisted on Dan Hamhuis' power-play goal at 10:53 of the second. Zidlicky converted a pass from Andreas Johansson at the 8:18 mark of the first period, beating St. Louis goaltender Chris Osgood on the stick side from close range.

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Jeff Hackett made 27 saves and Evgeni Nabokov made 26 for San Jose. Vincent Damphousse thought he had won it for San Jose 3:47 into overtime when he deflected the puck under Hackett's pads as the goalie slid into the net. But Hackett swept the puck away with his leg, and video replay didn't show conclusive evidence of a goal. Hackett recorded his 25th career shutout -- and his second in three games this season. Nabokov got his 18th career shutout.

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Ales Hemsky and Raffi Torres had a goal and an assist each for Edmonton. Ty Conklin stopped 31 shots for Edmonton, which had two straight shutout losses.
