NEW CASTLE Woman pleads guilty to having meth lab



NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A woman accused of having a methamphetamine lab in a garage has entered a guilty plea in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.
Jodi L. Dicken, 35, of Electric Avenue entered an open plea in court Wednesday, according to court records. A sentencing date has not been set yet.
She was charged in September 2002 after authorities were called to Phillips Way for a domestic dispute and found an illegal drug lab operating in a garage.
King Frank Midas, 46, of Phillips Way was also arrested. His charges are still pending.
New Castle police called to the disturbance Aug. 2 discovered the methamphetamine-manufacturing lab and called in the Bureau of Narcotic Investigation Clandestine Laboratory Team from the state attorney general's office.
The drug, commonly referred to as crystal meth, is a crystal-like substance that can be produced by chemically changing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, drugs used to treat breathing and allergy problems.
Charges
Midas and Dicken have been charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, possession with intent to manufacture, delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, conspiracy and corruption of a minor.
Both also face charges of reckless endangering and causing or risking a catastrophe because the lab was very close to St. Francis Hospital and the Lawrence County Head Start program, which provides services to preschool children.
Dicken is also charged with two counts of disorderly conduct.
