GRANT FUNDS City of Sharon



The city is applying for an $842,000 federal Community Development Block Grant which, coupled with $90,000 in housing rehabilitation loan repayments, will be used for a variety of community improvement efforts in 2004. Spending plans include:
$141,090: Street and alley paving.
$33,000: Final payment on a three-year contribution to Mercer County Area Agency on Aging.
$50,000: Construction of a parking lot at East State Street and Sharpsville Avenue.
$140,000: Housing rehabilitation and free paint program.
$20,000: Community cleanup project.
$20,200: Shenango Valley Urban League.
$4,000: Community Food Warehouse.
$1,000: Valley Arts Guild.
$9,700: Shenango Valley Shuttle Service.

$4,500: Sharon Lifelong Learning Council.
$3,610: Camp Kids.
$50,000: Zone officers.
$6,500: Sharon Family Center.
$6,100: Shenango Valley Community Library.
$12,500: Alternatives for Women: Advocacy, Resources and Education.
$5,000: F.H. Buhl Club.
$50,000: Demolition of dilapidated buildings.
$42,000: Code enforcement.
$1,000: Children's bike helmets.
$135,000: To help develop the Goldstone building at East State and Dock streets.
$186,800: Administrative costs.
