The state auditor's office has made recommendations for the city school district to save money. They include:
In future contract negotiations, seek a 10-percent employee contribution for health-insurance premiums for employees working seven hours or more a day, saving the district nearly $130,000.In future contract negotiations, seek to reduce cost-of-living increases for all staff, educational personnel and administrators for the next three-year contract. Reduce the number of paid holidays for classified employees. These proposals could save the district as much as $375,000.
