BOARDMAN -- Easter Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties is having its first Walk With Me fund-raising event Saturday at Boardman Park. Participants can preregister online at www.walkwithme.org, or by calling (330) 743-1168 before noon Friday. Registration the day of the event is 8:30 a.m. to noon. Individuals and teams can participate by getting pledges. Easter Seals officials said 99 percent of the money raised stays in the three counties to support Easter Seals programs and services.
HMHP Diabetes Expo
LIBERTY -- Diabetes Expo 2003, the annual educational event sponsored by the diabetes education staff at Humility of Mary Health Partners, is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex, 1620 Motor Inn Drive. The event will feature speakers Hollie Kozak, HMHP coordinator of sports medicine, and Marlene Rafidi, clinical dietitian. The cost is $5 per person, which includes lunch. Diabetes Health Fair
SALEM -- Dr. Steven P. Robertson will present "Complications of Diabetes" at this year's Salem Community Hospital Annual Diabetes Health Fair. The free event, open to diabetics and their family members, is scheduled from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6 at the hospital. There will also be educational booths and health screenings, and representatives from diabetes supply companies will be available to answer questions and discuss new supplies and management techniques. Water exercise program
SALEM -- Salem Community Hospital's six-week "Water Exercise Together" (W.E.T.) Program is Oct. 27 through Dec. 11. Choose from any two classes, Monday through Thursday, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave. The fee is $48. Girard immunizations
GIRARD -- The Girard Health Department offers well-child immunizations at 11 a.m. Tuesday at 100 W. Main St. The shots are free of charge to Girard children. Parents are reminded to bring a copy of their children's immunization records, and a parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 18. Parents must preregister children by calling (330) 545-6048.
Information for seniors
GIRARD -- The Girard City Health Department's third annual Senior Citizen Health Fair is from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St. Some 30 area health-care agencies will be represented, offering services such as blood-pressure checks, glaucoma and stroke screening. All area seniors are invited to attend.
