ACS BENEFIT Pink Ribbon Gala to be held at MetroPlex Centre
Outstanding volunteers will be honored at the black-tie event.
LIBERTY -- The local chapter of the American Cancer Society will hold its sixth annual Pink Ribbon Gala on Nov. 1 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex Centre, Belmont Avenue.
The gala will begin at 6 p.m. with a martini bar and hors d'oeuvres. Patrons will have the choice of beef, chicken or vegetarian dinners, and a variety of desserts will be available.
Honorees
Singled out for recognition at the formal, black-tie event will be Dr. Robert T. Brodell and Lillie Johnson, both of Warren.
Dr. Brodell, a member of the board of directors for the Ohio Division of the American Cancer Society, is active with the ACS Warren Relay for Life. Johnson, a breast-cancer survivor, is active with the Reach to Recovery program, which helps newly diagnosed breast-cancer patients. Both have given hundreds of hours of their time to the programs tjat aim to eradicate cancer.
On display will be a Tree of Hope which honors cancer survivors and the memory of those who lost the fight to cancer. Pink ribbons on the display will contain the name of each person to be honored or remembered. A donation of $5 will be accepted for each name.
There will also be a silent auction, a Chinese auction and a 50-50 drawing. Entertainment will be provided by the Original Fantasys.

Proceeds from the event will support breast cancer research, education and advocacy, and provide services to cancer patients and care-givers.
Linda Moll and Selena Sofocleus are serving as co-chairwomen for the gala, and their committee members are Bill Begalla, Kim Brownlie, Katie Burkey, Deb Dashko, Michele Duer, Nancy Gantt, Kathy Garritano, Pat Kavic, Bonnie Perratto, Noelle Roth, Karen Segesto and Kerri Stewart.
The ACS office at 525 N. Broad St., Canfield is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
