NESHANNOCK, PA. Officials approve truck purchase
NESHANNOCK, Pa. -- Township supervisors have bought a new dump truck for snow removal.
Seigworth Road Supply of Knox, Pa., was the only bidder for the 2004 Navistar 7400 dump truck. The $91,999 truck will feature a stainless steel dump, snowplow hitch and a salt spreader. Ken Seigworth, owner of Seigworth Road Supply, said the truck would be available by the middle of January.
Township supervisor and road master John DiCola Jr. said at Wednesday's meeting that he would like to have the truck as soon as possible.
He said he plans to replace two trucks with this new one. DiCola said the 1981 and 1986 dump trucks are costing the township at least $1,500 each inspection, which is every six months.
Shift changes
In other business, the supervisors approved shift changes for road maintenance employees during the winter months.
DiCola said the road crew would be split in half from Dec. 1, 2003, through April 2, 2004. The second shift will work from 3:30 p.m. to midnight Monday through Friday.
He added that overtime would be given to both shifts depending upon weather conditions.
Supervisor Chairman Gale Measel reminded township residents that the township is listed as an emergency disaster area because of storms in the past three months. Measel said the township would continue to evaluate each problem and rank them in order of severity.
