BOARDMAN Hispanic culture group plans to celebrate 31st anniversary



OCCHA serves the various needs in the area's Hispanic community.
BOARDMAN -- The Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana will celebrate its 31st anniversary with a dinner fund-raiser Friday at Antone's Banquet Center, 8578 Market St.
There will be a social hour at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and awards presentations at 6 p.m. Tickets are $30 per person.
Mistress of ceremonies will be Migdalia Cuevas.
OCCHA is the social service agency that provides various services for the Hispanic community. It is located at 3660 Shirley Road on Youngstown's South Side.
Awardees for Hispanic Pioneers of Mahoning Valley for this year are: Dr. Raul A. Hernandez, Jose Moro Sr., Rafael Romero family, Angel Torres family, Herminia Angulo Lee, Manuel Mendez, Dr. and Mrs. Fernando A. Carbonell, Valentin Mendel, Pedro Colon Sr., Jorge and Norma Viana, Rosario Angulo Tinoco, Antonio and Estefenja Ceja family, and the Juan and Sarah Aguilar family.
Other awardees are: OCCHA Academic Achievement Scholarship, Porfirio Esparra III; Hispanic Teacher's Award, Raquel Lisa Morales; and Dr. Servio and Dr. Clara Becerra Award, Jessica Torres.
The members of this year's annual dinner committee are: chairman, Benito Velazquez; co-chairman, Rosa Tirado; committee members, Antonia Caraballo, Candida Godoy, Nellie Gonzalez, Virginia Hernandez, Mildred C. Montalvo, Elba Navarro, Mary Ann Navarro, Aida Pacheco, William Robertson and Fran Wilson.
Entertainment will be provided by Mark Anthony Productions. There will also be a silent auction.
