Briere injured in off-ice workout
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Sabres center Daniel Briere injured his hamstring during an off-ice workout Wednesday and is day-to-day.
After being examined by team trainers, Briere joined the club for their six-game, 11-day road trip that starts Thursday at Edmonton.
Earlier Wednesday, Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff thought the injury would keep Briere, the Sabres' No. 2 center behind Chris Drury, out of the lineup.
As a precaution, the Sabres called up forward Domenic Pittis from Rochester of the AHL and sent goaltender Ryan Miller to Rochester.
Forwards Tim Connolly (concussion), Jochen Hecht (broken arm) and Eric Boulton (thumb) are currently on the injured list.
