Berton jubilee to be celebrated at open house
XPETERSBURG -- An open house reception has been planned in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Berton, 14318 Petersburg Unity Road, who will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the event from 3 to 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Springfield, where they are members.
Greeting guests will be the couple's children, who are hosts for the festivity, Gerald Berton of Hiram, Thomas Berton of Boardman and Carolyn Day of Petersburg.
The former Laura Gibson and Mr. Berton were married Nov. 19, 1943, at St. John Lutheran Church in Petersburg. They have seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Berton is retired after being employed as a mail carrier from August 1975 to May 1981 at the Lowellville post office.
Mr. Berton served with the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. He was a driver with Herriott Trucking Co. in East Palestine from July 1948 until retiring in May 1981.
