Death ruled suicide
BOARDMAN -- The death of a 22-year-old township woman in her Shields Road apartment in early summer has been ruled a suicide.
Kristin M. Mintler was found by her roommate on the kitchen floor of the apartment at 115 Shields Road just after 1 p.m. June 8. Township police, the South County Homicide Task Force and the Mahoning County Coroner's Office at that time treated the death as suspicious.
A report from the Mahoning County coroner says the death has been ruled a suicide. The report says Mintler had two drugs in her system at toxic levels and two more drugs ranging from toxic to lethal levels.
Police, at the time of Mintler's death, would not say what circumstances raised their suspicions, but the coroner's report says the apartment was in disarray.
City officials are sued
YOUNGSTOWN -- Four city residents have filed a federal lawsuit against city officials alleging misconduct, dereliction of duty, negligence, malfeasance and fraud.
The suit says the city officials have failed to follow the city charter, state law and the U.S. Constitution on numerous topics.
Margaret Lorenzi, Charles Kershaw, Frank Humphries and John Thomas, all of Youngstown, filed the suit Tuesday. The suit names the mayor, finance and law directors, and all seven city councilmen.
The suit seeks an injunction to prohibit the city officials from signing contracts and ordering investigations of contracts already signed, plus unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
John McNally IV, the city law director, said he hadn't seen the lawsuit and declined to comment.
Aggravated burglary
LAKE MILTON -- Anyone with information about the aggravated burglary late Monday night at the Canary Drive home of an elderly couple is asked to call Capt. Frank Tomaino at the Milton Township Police Department, 330-538-0078.
Chief William Moretz said two tall, thin white men wearing dark clothing and yellow hooded jackets forced their way into the mobile home at Lake Milton Mobile Home Park after disabling the porch light and knocking on the door.
The robbers took a large amount of cash then left at 10:40 p.m. in a newer model white car, possibly a Pontiac or Oldsmobile, with square taillights. The car traveled east on Ellsworth Road.
Developer is fined
CORTLAND -- Developer Anthony Petrocco is racking up fines of $100 a day since Tuesday for failing to give city officials detailed plans for fixing drainage problems in the Shepherds Hill neighborhood.
At its last regular meeting, city council gave Petrocco two weeks to come up with the plans.
The deadline elapsed Tuesday, and no plans have been submitted, Mayor Melissa Long said Wednesday. The city will notify Petrocco by mail that the fines are building up, she said.

GIRARD -- The Trumbull County Arson Task Force has been called in to probe an early-morning house fire that caused $24,000 in damage.
A firefighter said the fire department was called to the house, at 406 Iowa Ave., shortly before 12:45 a.m. after flames broke out in the living room of the two-bedroom ranch. The owner was not home at the time.
Arson investigators were called in because the cause can't be determined.
