Author to discussOhio's architecture
WARREN -- Columbus author Jane Ware will discuss Ohio's rural and urban architecture during a slide presentation at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W.
Ware is the author of two Orange Frazer Press travel guides to both Ohio's urban and rural architecture. Her books will be available for purchase after the program. Her books are not architectural histories but offer varied examples of good and interesting architecture from eight cities, towns and rural areas. Included in her books are courthouses, cemeteries, schools, skyscrapers, stores, commercial buildings and much more.
Ware's program is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.
Paranormal investigatorto tell ghost stories
CANFIELD -- Paranormal investigator Alice Whitehill will talk about paranormal activity and tell ghost stories from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Loghurst, a property of the Western Reserve Historical Society. Whitehill is the author of "In Tune with Spirits" and will be available to autograph copies of her book.
This kid-friendly program also features pumpkin painting and a candy hunt. Participants are requested to bring a blanket or lawn chair and a flashlight. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. WRHS members and children 5 and under are admitted for free. Loghurst, built in 1805 and the oldest remaining log home in Northeast Ohio, is at 3967 Boardman-Canfield Road (Route 224) in Canfield. Barnes & amp; Nobleplans several events
BOARDMAN -- Barnes & amp; Noble in The Shops at Boardman Park will host Educator Appreciation Night at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The event will feature classroom resources, in-store programming, prizes, local agency speakers and more.
The American Girls Club will welcome a designer and creator of unique American Girl doll clothes at 7 p.m. Friday.
Author Bob Adamov will be signing copies of his award-winning book, "Rainbow's End," which is set in Put-in-Bay, at 2 p.m. Saturday.
All events are free and open to the public.
