GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Candidates for Mercer County Common Pleas Court and county commissioners will meet on the Grove City College campus to debate issues in the Nov. 4 election.
All three court candidates -- John Reed, Chris St. John and Stephen Mirizio -- will visit the campus Wednesday to share their views. Voters can vote for two candidates Nov. 4.
The five commissioner candidates have been invited to campus for a debate Monday. The list includes Republicans Michele Brooks and George Pokrant, Democrats Olivia Lazor and Brian Beader and independent Dan Berent.
Both debates will be at 7 p.m. in Sticht Lecture Hall of the Hall of Arts and Letters and are open to the public. The debates are sponsored by the Department of Political Science and Mercer County League of Women Voters.
A representative of the press and a member of Mercer County League of Women Voters will offer questions.
Both debates will be filmed by Armstrong Cable and will air later this month, from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3. Other cable stations are considering the broadcasts as well, and audio recordings of the events will be sent to area radio stations.
