Lupus awareness vigil
Lupus awareness vigil
YOUNGSTOWN -- A candlelight vigil will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 in front of the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave., to raise awareness about the autoimmune disease lupus.
The event will include music, refreshments and testimonials from people who are living with lupus.
The public is invited to attend in honor or memory of someone who has been affected by the disease, a chronic disorder in which the body's immune system attacks healthy tissues and organs.
It affects more than 1.5 million people in the United States. Symptoms include joint pain or swelling, fever, fatigue, rash, anemia, chest pains and sun sensitivity.
Support groups are held at the YWCA the first Tuesday of each month. For further information call the YWCA at (330) 746-6361.
