Chaney to playTimken Thursday
YOUNGSTOWN -- Chaney High's City Series football game against Canton Timken has been changed to Thursday at 7 p.m. at Fawcett Stadium.
Originally, the game was scheduled for Saturday.
Ursuline-Mooneyfreshman game
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Ursuline-Mooney freshman football game, originally scheduled for Thursday, has been moved to Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Engram named by SVC
Warren Harding High quarterback Alex Engram was named Steel Valley Conference player of the week for football.
In the Raiders' 45-21 victory over Canton McKinley, Engram completed 11-of-15 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns.
McDonald coaches
McDONALD -- The McDonald Board of Education Monday hired the following coaches: Lou Domitrovich, boys track; Dan Williams, baseball; Rebecca Logar, girls seventh grade basketball, and volunteers Josh Camuso, assistant girls basketball, and Michael Lepor, boys bowling.
Corrections
* Quarterback Reid Lamport of Poland was 17-of-31 for 240 yards and a TD in the Bulldogs' game against Kettering Alter last weekend. He should have been included in the Weekend Leaders on Monday.
* Salem's Zac Grey had 12 catches for 198 yards in the Quakers' game against Canfield last Friday. Grey's statistics were reported as 130 yards on eight receptions.
Men win relay
AKRON -- Russ Minick, Tom Walters, Jim Moore, Gary Barnes and Gary Campe of the Youngstown Road Runners won the 50-and-over 26-mile relay Saturday at the Akron Marathon.
Minick ran 10k, Walters 5K, Moore 10k, Barnes 5K and Campe 12K for a combined time of 2 hours, 52 minutes, 14 seconds.
A professional team of runners placed second (2:52.18).
Michelle Wardle of Struthers won her age group (20-24) in 3:24:28.
Laura Bandynamed by OAC
ALLIANCE -- Mount Union College sophomore Laura Bandy, a West Branch High graduate, was named Ohio Athletic Conference co-player of the week for women's soccer.
She scored three goals and an assist, helping the Raiders to a 5-4 win over Ohio Northern and a 4-3 victory over Baldwin-Wallace.
Bandy is tied for the team-lead in points (12).
Clark makes defense
LAS VEGAS -- Columbus lightweight Michael Clark will make the first defense of his NABF title Friday at the Orleans Resort and Casino.
The scheduled 12-round bout, against Antonio Ramirez of New York City, will be televised on ESPN2.
Clark, a former national Golden Gloves champion, is co-managed by Pat Nelson and Lou Schiavoni of Youngstown.
Jennifer Wrennamed to hall
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Palm Beach Atlantic University will induct Jennifer Wren of Columbus, formerly of Youngstown, into the university's sports hall of fame Nov. 8.
Wren, daughter of Becki and Don Kollar of Youngstown, was named Palm Beach Atlantic University's athlete of the year in 1995 and MVP for volleyball. She was captain in 1995 and 1996.
Wren was all-conference all four years and also received regional honors in 1994-95. She ranks first in service aces per game with a seasonal percentage of .78, first in block assists and first in total blocks, with a career of 569.
Special Olympicsswim meet
HUBBARD -- An Area 11 Special Olympics swim meet will be held Saturday at Hubbard Community Pool from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Approximately 120 Special Olympic athletes, representing teams from Ashtabula, Mahoning, Stark, Summit and Trumbull counties, will compete in this event.
The meet is sponsored by the Fairhaven Special Olympics Program of Trumbull County and serves as a qualifying event for the Special Olympics Aquatics Meet that will be held at Ohio State in December.

Navratilova to leadU.S. team at Fed Cup
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Martina Navratilova will lead the U.S. team at next month's Fed Cup, and at 47 will be the oldest player to compete in the event's 40-year history.
Meghann Shaughnessy, Lisa Raymond and Alexandra Stevenson also were chosen for the team that will play Belgium in the semifinals in Moscow on Nov. 19-20.
