Flavored milk appeals to adult tastebuds
KNIGHT RIDDER NEWSPAPERS
Toothpastes now come in tasty flavors. Ditto for breath mints in citrus and chocolate. So why shouldn't milk -- for adults?
Milk consumption is up among all ages, Time magazine reports. So to give it an extra boost, the dairy industry is adding grown-up tastes beyond chocolate. Make way for amaretto, strawberry, banana, peach and even coffee (made with decaffeinated Brazilian roast).
Time quotes a report in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association noting that flavored milks can be more nutritious than sodas because they contain calcium and protein.
One more thing: Look for the low-fat versions if you don't want to pile on extra pounds.
