EMMCO gets board chairman



SHARON, Pa. -- Glenn Miller, director of the Winner EMS Educational Institute at Sharon Regional Health System, has been elected chairman of the EMMCO-West board of directors.
EMMCO-West was incorporated in 1983 by the acute care hospitals in seven northwestern Pennsylvania counties. The Pennsylvania Department of Health contracts with EMMCO-West, Inc. to develop, enhance, and oversee the prehospital emergency care system in western Pennsylvania.
As chairman of the EMMCO-West board, Miller works with staff from EMMCO-West Inc.'s Meadville office in developing programs and overseeing the operation of the prehospital emergency management system in the counties of Mercer, Crawford, Venango, Clarion, Forest, Warren and Erie.
EMMCO-West oversees initial and continuing education for first responders, EMTs, paramedics, prehospital registered nurses and other emergency staff; assists hospitals with bio-terrorism preparation and training; develops a regional disaster response plan; licenses ambulances within its service area; delivers and maintains emergency rescue equipment/trailers; coordinates regional critical incident stress management programs; and runs many other programs/services dedicated to emergency management and preparedness.
Miller's term as board chairman is for two years.
