YOUNGSTOWN -- Free lung function tests are being offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 22 at Youngstown State University's Cushwa Hall by the Department of Health Professions. The screening is part of National Respiratory Care Week (NPCW), Oct. 19 to 25, sponsored by the American Association for Respiratory Care. Free women's screeningsto fight breast cancer
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Womancare Center of UPMC Horizon, affiliated with Magee-Womens Hospital, Pittsburgh, is recognizing October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month by collaborating with Family Planning Services of Mercer County to offer free breast and cervical cancer screenings to eligible women through the Family Health Council, the HealthyWomnan project and the Komen Pittsburgh Race for the Cure mammogram program.

TUNA procedure speakerto explain ablation
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Dr. Walter Beh, a board-certified urologist, will discuss transurethral needle ablation (TUNA) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Assembly Rooms A and B at UPMC's Greenville facility. TUNA is a procedure than can relieve symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate gland by delivering low-level radio frequency waves to the prostate via needle inserted through the urethra without an incision.
First aid/CPR classes
YOUNGSTOWN -- The National Safety Council, Northern Ohio Chapter, offers first aid and CPR classes Wednesday at the chapter offices, 25 E. Boardman St. Standard CPR for adults, infants and children is from 8:30 to noon; and standard first aid is from 1 to 5 p.m. The cost is $32.50 for one course, or $65 for both. Women to be pampered
YOUNGSTOWN -- In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave., will host a pampering event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 20.
Women who provide proof that they received a mammogram during October will be eligible to receive one free manicure, pedicure, facial, satin hands treatment or massage. Women may also make an appointment to get a mammogram at the YWCA on that date.
