PREP SOCCER Mooney rolls, 9-1, past Benedictine for 15th win



STRUTHERS -- Two Cardinal Mooney soccer players moved into the Ohio top 10 individual career statistical ranks, as the Cardinals pounded Cleveland Benedictine, 9-1, at Tri-County Sports Complex Saturday.
Kiki Willis collected four goals to give the junior forward 39 scores this year. His 105 goals place Willis 10th on the all-time state scoring list.
Senior Christo Frangopoulos added two goals and four assists. He now has 24 assists this year and 51 in his career, also the 10th-most in Ohio history.
Senior D.J. Myers scored twice and freshman Alecko Frangopoulos added a goal, while Dom DiPasquale had two assists and Willis one more.
Mooney (15-0-1) has a 33-match unbeaten streak, and is ranked first in Div. II in Ohio and eighth in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Poland 3, Lakeview 0
POLAND -- Junior Lenny Ligoure, P.J. Booth and Stephen Gavalos each scored a goal for the Bulldogs (10-6) in a regular-season final contest.
Chaney 1, Canton Timken 0
CANTON -- T.J. Klopta scored the only goal of the game for the Cowboys. Edwin Moran had an assist, while Jeff Asch, goalie, had four saves.
Canton Timken goalkeeper Josh Ryder had 12 saves.
Mathews 4, Bristol 3
VIENNA -- Junior Drew Himes scored two goals and Travis Fiest and Brent McLaughlin added assists for the Mustangs (5-8-3). Steve Graora and Dan Graora added goals and Jake Day had an assist.
Bob Wheelock and Max Jestka of Bristol (9-3-3) both scored in the first half, while Jason DeMattia added the other one in the second half. Justin Bellino, Eric Maraczi and Matt Hinkle each had an assist.
Girls
CORTLAND -- Krista Ginnetti scored two goals and Britt Davis added a goal and two assists as the Poland High girls soccer team finished the regular season on a winning note, beating Lakeview 5-2.
Sarah Anderson and Maureen Malone added goals for the Bulldogs (11-3-2). Jessie Toth had two assists.
Rachel Taddei and Sarah Christner scored for Lakeview.
West Branch 1, Salem 0
BELOIT -- Ashley Kurena scored on an assist from Lisa Bell to lead the Warriors (11-0-5). Warriors' goalie Carlie Poffenberger turned in 22 saves, while Salem (4-7-4) goalie Amanda Thorne had 16 saves.
