Man sought in death
VERNON -- A 46-year-old Vernon man is being sought for questions in the death of a Greenville man. The Ohio State Highway Patrol wants to talk to Bruce Coxson about the death of Charles Palm, 29. The patrol said Coxson, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 230 pounds, is known to frequent the Vernon and Greenville areas. A hunter discovered Palm's body around 6:30 p.m. Friday near a gravel parking area in the Shenango Wild Life area here.
The patrol said Palm's death is a homicide but declined to state a cause. The Trumbull County Coroner's Office is closed today because of the Columbus Day holiday.
Electronics recycling
CANFIELD -- Mahoning County residents can dispose of unwanted electronic items for recycling between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
The Mahoning County Green Team, the solid waste division, will accept these items: computers, monitors and printers, televisions, VCRs, DVD players, radios, small photocopiers and cell phones. Kitchen appliances, large photocopiers and commercial or industrial volumes of items won't be accepted.
Residents should enter the fairgrounds at Gate 9 on state Route 46 and follow the signs. People with last names starting with A to F should arrive between 9 and 11 a.m.; people with last names starting with G to N should arrive between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.; people with last names starting with O to Z should arrive between 1 and 3 p.m.

Man robs pizza store
GIRARD -- A man wearing a Halloween mask forced an employee to let him into the back of a pizza store and walked away with $110. Police said the suspect, described as a white man about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a stocky build, approached an employee who was outside the Pizza Joe's store on North State Street on a smoke break around 9 p.m. Saturday. The man showed a gun, which police said was an automatic pistol, and left with the money. No employees or customers were harmed. Meal-serving program
WARREN -- Trumbull Community Action Program will serve meals at no additional charge through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Child and Adult Care Food Program. Meals will be served to enrolled participants at Warren West Community Center, William M. Cafaro Head Start Center in Niles, Shepherd's of All God's Children and Head Start centers in Kinsman, Trumbull Southwest and Trumbull Southeast.
Recycling award for YSU
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University Support Services recycling program has received a Recycle, Ohio! Award in the Youth/School Group category as part of the Community Pride & amp; Partnership Awards sponsored by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The awards program recognizes individuals and groups, committed to recycling, litter prevention and source reduction. It also honors innovative recycling and litter prevention projects that benefit Ohio communities. YSU's award was one of 16 given across the state.
Police confiscate guns
YOUNGSTOWN -- Three guns were confiscated by police in separate traffic stops Sunday on the South Side. Leonard Schroeder, 28, of Whitman Lane was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and obstructing official business. Schroeder's car was pulled over at 11 p.m. when he failed to stop for a stop sign on Judson Avenue, police said. Solomon Clay IV, 21, of Hillman Street was charged with mishandling a firearm in a motor vehicle when police stopped him at 12:30 p.m. after spotting his car behind an abandoned house on West Florida Avenue. At 3:50 a.m., Donald Washington Jr., 29, of St. Louis Avenue was arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Police said he failed to signal a turn onto Edwards Street.
