MAC Marshall pummels Kent in shootout
Miami put up big numbers against Buffalo.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Stan Hill threw for five touchdowns and 392 yards to outduel Josh Cribbs as Marshall routed Kent State 49-33 Saturday.
Josh Davis caught three touchdown passes and had eight receptions for 144 yards for the Thundering Herd (3-3, 1-1 Mid-American Conference).
Hill threw touchdown passes of 27, 18 and 3 yards to Davis, 50 yards to Jason Schroeder and 49 yards to Darius Watts. He finished one shy of the school record of six passing TDs, set by Chad Pennington and Byron Leftwich.
Earl Charles rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns in his first start for Marshall.
Cribbs became the first Division I-A player since 2000 with rushing, passing and receiving touchdowns in one game. He caught a 30-yard touchdown pass, rushed for a 10-yard TD and had three touchdown passes for the Golden Flashes (3-4, 2-2).
Akron 45, Cal Poly-SLO 14
AKRON -- Charlie Frye passed for 195 yards and four touchdowns to lead Akron.
Matt Cherry caught a 20-yard TD pass from Frye and returned a punt 76 yards for another score to give the Zips (4-3) a 28-14 lead with 4:00 to play in the second quarter.
About two minutes earlier, Jerrel Ringer scored on a 2-yard TD run to make it 21-14, giving Akron the lead for good. Ringer rushed for 167 yards on 20 carries.
John Mende completed 7 of 23 passes for 128 yards with one touchdown and one interception for Cal-Poly (3-3). He scored on a 12-yard run and threw a 25-yard TD pass to Anthony Randolph to tie it 14-all in the second.
Frye completed 12 of 19 passes. He also threw TD passes of 3 yards to Nick Sparks, 12 yards to Dennis Basch and 26 yards to Jason Montgomery.
N. Illinois 40, Cent. Michigan 24
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan safety James King says to forget all that talk about stocky Michael Turner being deceptively fast.
The Northern Illinois tailback ran for a season-high 199 yards and two touchdowns as the No. 16 Huskies overcame a slow start.
The Chippewas (2-4, 0-3) jumped out to a 17-0 lead in their Homecoming game and kept the Huskies out of the end zone in the first half.
Bowling Green 32, W. Michigan 21
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Josh Harris threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a pair of scores for Bowling Green.
The Falcons (5-1, 2-0) recorded 510 yards of offense against the MAC's No. 2 defense. Western Michigan (3-3, 2-1) hadn't given up that many yards in four seasons.
The win vaulted Bowling Green past the Broncos and into a tie for first in the MAC West with No. 16 Northern Illinois and Ball State. The Falcons' only loss this season was to Ohio State.
Miami 59, Buffalo 3
OXFORD, Ohio -- Ben Roethlisberger completed 18 of 24 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns for Miami.
Roethlisberger's 30-yard TD pass to Michael Larkin opened a 24-point first quarter for the RedHawks (5-1, 2-0).
Roethlisberger had second-quarter TD passes of 6 yards to Larkin, 11 yards to Martin Nance and 3 yards to Cal Murray as Miami built a 45-0 halftime lead. That broke the school record for first-half points, previously set with a 35-0 halftime lead over Kent State on Sept. 23, 2000.
Ohio 28, Cent. Florida 0
ATHENS, Ohio -- Freshman quarterback Austin Everson ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns and threw a scoring pass in his first start to lead Ohio.
Everson, who hadn't played in the Bobcats' first five games, threw a 57-yard scoring pass to Brad Young on his first drive and later scored on runs of 1, 57 and 1 yard.
The Bobcats (2-4, 1-2) had 390 yards on offense to just 98 yards for the Golden Knights (2-4, 1-2). UCF had a net loss of six yards rushing on 22 carries.
Toledo 49, E. Michigan 14
TOLEDO -- Bruce Gradkowski passed for 289 yards and three scores and Trinity Dawson scored three touchdowns for Toledo.
Gradowski threw TD passes of 8 yards to Dawson, 12 yards to Steve Odom and 19 yards to Terrance Hudson in the second quarter, when the Rockets (4-2, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) scored 28 points to take a 42-7 lead.
