Individuals and organizations to get Peace Awards Oct. 20



YOUNGSTOWN -- The seventh annual Peace Award Banquet to be sponsored the Mayor's Task Force on Crime and Violence Prevention will be held Oct. 20 at the Youngstown Club in the Commerce Building, 201 E. Commerce St.
Dinner at 6 p.m. will be followed by a keynote address by Robert Woodson, founder and president of the National Center for Neighborhood Enterprise in Washington.
Several individuals and groups will be recognized at the event for services to the community. The following recipients will be honored:
UPhyllis Ford of the VALU Program, individual volunteer award.
UJudge Robert Douglas and Judge Jack Durkin, awards for their drug court programs.
UThe late Michael T. Hartzell, police officer, and Jennie Revere, Black Block Watch president, memorial awards.
UYoungstown Police Department, chaplaincy, a volunteer group award.
URochelle Copeland, "If it is to be, it's up to me" award.
Tickets are $25 in advance.
