A concert featuring The Imperials with Ed Enoch and The Golden Covenant will double as a reunion of The Abraham Brothers at 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at South Range High School, North Lima. Lynn Royce Taylor, formerly of Columbiana, now of Portland, Tenn., is the tenor vocalist with Golden Covenant and was previously a member of The Gospel Chords and The Vogues. Donnie Abraham, a graduate of Boardman High School, is a former member of the Abraham Brothers with Ed Finnie and Dave Hamilton. Tickets cost $17 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets are available at many area Christian bookstores.
"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will be presented by Two Blocks Off Broadway, the theater ministry at Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., 7 p.m. Oct. 24-26. Jim Celedonia stars as Joseph, and the musical director is Jim Antell. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children age 4-12. They are available at the door or by calling (330) 545-4361. Three Missionaries of the Sacred Heart priests, previously serving at the Sacred Heart Retreat Center in Liberty Township, received new assignments effective Nov. 1 after the Retreat Center was purchased by the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown. The Rev. Joseph Gleixner was named administrator at St. Paul Parish in Canton with responsibility of the parish. The Rev. Vincent Freeh, who will be with St. Mary Church in Canton, will continue to promote the "Being Church" program. Father Freeh has been superior-director of the Sacred Heart Retreat Center since 1998. The Rev. Thomas Carney will assist with Hispanic ministry in the Canton area. He previously served as pastor of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Youngstown.
The USO of Northern Ohio is offering a miniconference for pastors and lay leaders who want to minister to the special needs of the military families in northern Ohio.
