Woman reports rape
BOARDMAN -- Township police are investing a reported rape at a township hotel this week. Police said a 21-year-old Youngstown woman reported that she was raped in a room at the Holiday Inn on Wednesday or Thursday by a man she knew.
A friend, police said, encouraged the woman to go to the hospital, and the hospital contacted police. Police say the matter is under investigation, but the woman is not cooperating with officers.
Down-payment assistance
LAKE MILTON -- Milton Township trustees will have applications for the Down Payment Assistance and Private Rehabilitation Program offered by the Mahoning County Community Housing Improvement Program. Grant applications can be picked up at the Milton Police Station from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The CHIP program is offering assistance to low- to moderate-income families with down-payment assistance on the purchase of a home and private rehabilitation assistance for homes. Certain restrictions apply, and an informational brochure can be obtained along with an application.
