Marshall RBquestionable
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Oft-injured Marshall running back Butchie Wallace is questionable for Saturday's game against Kent State with a broken bone in his right hand.
Wallace, a senior, missed time last year with a sprained ankle, concussion, pulled leg muscles and a creaky back. During preseason camp this year, he suffered another concussion and a teammate fell on his ankle during a play.
Wallace said he injured his dominant hand when he was being tackled during the third quarter of Marshall's 33-24 loss to Troy State on Sept. 27. When he removed his glove, he saw a lump of bone beneath the skin between his middle and ring fingers.
A soft cast on the hand prevents Wallace from securely gripping the football. Still, he said he will be ready for Marshall's Oct. 18 game at Buffalo.
If he can't play, junior college transfer Earl Charles will start.
Marshall plays host to the Golden Flashes Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

Bob Knight's casedismissed by judge
INDIANAPOLIS -- A judge sided with Indiana University in Bob Knight's breach-of-contract lawsuit over his firing as the school's basketball coach three years ago.
Monroe Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Todd granted the university's motion for summary judgment, effectively dismissing Knight's lawsuit without a trial.
Knight was fired in 2000 for violating a "zero tolerance" behavior policy by grabbing the arm of a student who he said greeted him by his last name. Knight sued two years later, claiming the university violated his employment contract.
Knight's lawsuit claimed the firing cost him more than $2 million in media and clothing contracts as well endorsements and camps.

Kostelic undergoes knee surgery
ZAGREB, Croatia -- Olympic ski champion Janica Kostelic had surgery on her right knee and will miss the opening races of the season, her spokesman Ozren Mueller said today.
The operation, to remove dislodged fragments of cartilage, was performed late Monday at an orthopedic clinic in the Austrian town of Shruns, close to where the Croatian star had been training.
It was the fourth operation in five months for the three-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time World Cup champion.
Kostelic started experiencing sharp pain as she increased her training load in preparation for the upcoming season, Mueller said. Kostelic is expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks.
