Bob Evans revisits Square
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Bob Evans Farms Inc., which was denied a zoning variance in March to build a restaurant in the Hermitage Square Plaza, is back now that the zoning regulations have changed.
The restaurant chain wanted to build right along Pa. Route 18 in the plaza only 25 feet from the road. City regulations required a 50-foot setback. The requirement was reduced to 25 feet late this summer. A Bob Evans representative was back at the city planning commission Monday seeking and winning approval for its plan. The issue now goes to the city commissioners for approval.
City officials said the project will be an important step in rebuilding much of the plaza at Hermitage Square, which was heavily damaged in a fire five years ago.
