YOUNGSTOWN Anonymous letter to Clarett includes threats, racial slurs

YOUNGSTOWN -- A threatening letter to Maurice Clarett, with a Youngstown postmark, was received at the Ohio State University running back's West Ravenwood Avenue home on Friday, police said.
Clarett's mother, Michelle Clarett, told police that she opened the letter, with no return address, believing it was junk mail. The typed letter included racial slurs and ethnic intimidation, reports show.
The end of the letter threatens to "kill and bomb the place" and "use police and detectives to find him."
Clarett's mother was told to hold onto the letter and contact the detective division today. She was also advised that her son would have to be present should a formal charge be filed.
Clarett, 19, was suspended for the season for accepting money from a family friend and lying about it to NCAA and university investigators. In August, he apologized for exaggerating on a police report the value of items stolen from a car he was driving.
