Hubbard man found dead
YOUNGSTOWN -- James Omarrah, 27, of Fairlawn Avenue, Hubbard, was found dead behind the wheel of a truck parked in the Speed Check parking lot on Albert Street about 5 p.m. Sunday, apparently the victim of an overdose, police said.
Police said they found evidence of drug abuse in the truck, including a syringe and suspected heroin.
The cause of death will be determined by the Mahoning County coroner's office.
Library is offeringfree computer classes
NILES -- McKinley Memorial Library is offering free computer classes throughout October at the McKinley Birthplace Home and Research Center, 40 S. Main St.
Internet for Kids, geared toward children 6 to 10 and their guardians, is set for 3 p.m. Saturday. Beginning Internet, for those 18 and older will be at 2 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Oct. 13. Beginning Microsoft Word, also for adults, meets at 11 a.m. Oct. 21.
Classes take place in the new computer room.

Seminar about ponds
CANFIELD -- A free seminar for pond owners will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Mill Creek MetroParks Farm on state Route 46 across from the Canfield Fairgrounds.
Advice will be presented on pond construction, weed control, wildlife issues, stocking ponds with fish and other pond-related topics. The seminar is presented by Mahoning County Soil and Water Conservation District in cooperation with Mill Creek MetroParks.

Rabies vaccination
The Mahoning County District Board of Health is offering pet rabies vaccination clinics for dogs, cats and ferrets. Rabies vaccinations of all dogs, cats and ferrets over 3 months is required in Mahoning County.
No appointment is necessary, but dogs must be under leash, and cats should be caged or carried in a cloth pillowcase. The cost is $2 per shot.
The clinics are from 1 to 4 p.m. at these locations: Saturday, Struthers Police Department; Oct. 18, Berlin Fire Hall, state Routes 224 and 534; and Oct. 25, Angels for Animals, 4750 state Route 165, Beaver Township.
Grant Center programscheduled at library
YOUNGSTOWN -- Reservations are being taken for "Getting Started with FC Search," a Grant Center program scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County's Main Library Meeting Room, 305 Wick Ave.
The program is an introductory session for those wishing to learn FC Search, the Foundation Center's Database on CD-ROM. This database is available in the Grant Center, which is part of the Information Services Department at Main Library.
Grant Center programs are free and open to representatives from nonprofit organizations seeking information on funding sources and fund raising.

Author will speak
YOUNGSTOWN -- Author Juilene Osbourne-McKnight of Pennsylvania, a Youngstown State University graduate, will tell stories of Irish myth and history and read from her books at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Art Gallery in Kilcawley Center.
McKnight has written two historical novels, "I Am of Irelaunde" and "Daughter of Ireland."
She is an accomplished folklorist and storyteller.
Bike safety day
AUSTINTOWN -- Bike safety day will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Kirk Road Trailhead of the Mill Creek MetroParks Mahoning Bikeway.
Bicycle police from various departments will distribute bicycle safety information, and Austintown Glenwood Cycle will conduct bicycle safety checks.
The event is sponsored by Mahoning Safe Communities and the Mahoning Valley Safe Kids Coalition.
