AT A GLANCE How CE works
Originated in Budapest, Hungary, in the 1940s by Dr. Andras Peto, a neurologist who spent his life helping the disabled.
The Peto Institute in Budapest continues Dr. Peto's work. His belief that the brain is highly adaptable serves as the basis for developing programs to help disabled children become as independent as possible.
Conductive Education integrates the child's physical development with his social, cognitive and emotional development.
This multidisciplinary approach employs repetitive tasks and rhythmic movements to help the brain create new pathways to the muscles, thus helping children overcome motor challenges.
The Inter-American Conductive Education Association, Inc. (IACEA) was organized in May 1992 to promote this system in the United States.
