DISTRICT Ursuline rallies to beat Akron Hoban
Daryll Clark sparked the Irish to a 25-21 victory.
AKRON -- Senior quarterback Daryll Clark rushed for a touchdown and passed for two more as Ursuline rallied in the second half to defeat Akron Hoban 25-21 Friday.
The Knights (5-2) seized a 14-0 lead at the break when Tyrell Sutton ran 4 yards for a touchdown and pulled in a 70-yard scoring pass from Anthony Pelini.
Clark then went to work. He ripped off a 64-yard scoring dash to get the Irish (4-3) on the board.
After Terrell Washington dove in from the 1 to pull the Irish within 14-12, Sutton scored his third touchdown for a 21-12 Knights lead.
Clark, who was 7-for-17 passing for 135 yards, connected with junior Derrick Stewart for a 52-yard scoring aerial to make it 21-19 entering the final quarter.
With 3:52 remaining in the game, Stewart caught a 50-yard touchdown pass from Clark for the game winner.
Clark rushed nine times for 98 yards.
Sutton entered the game with over 1,600 yards on the ground in six starts. The Irish held him to 116 yards on 25 carries.
Warren JFK 14, Sharpsville 6
SHARPSVILLE, Pa. -- Shane Golden rushed for a 76-yard touchdown in the third quarter for the Eagles (6-1), who led just 7-6 at the break.
John DiFiore ran five times for 32 yards and hit on eight of nine passes for 55 yards for JFK. Jimmy Kokrak caught a 20-yard pass from DiFiore to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead.
The Blue Devils (3-3) got on the board when Jordan Cataldi ran 6 yards for a tally in the second quarter.
Beaver Local 35, Chardon 6
CHARDON -- Adam Hoppel and Josh Pastore each scored two touchdowns as unbeaten Beaver Local upended Chardon.
Hoppel gained 63 yards on eight carries, which included TD runs of 2, 17 and 20 yards.
Pastore rushed for 114 yards on 18 carries and Jake Robinson gained 182 yards on 18 attempts and he hit on 1-of-2 passes for 15 yards.
The Beavers are ranked second in Region 11 of the Division III computer ratings and they are eighth in the Associated Press poll.
Chardon was ranked 10th in Div. II of the AP poll.
The Hilltoppers (5-2) rushed for 130 yards and passed for 9.
Louisville 13, West Branch 9
BELOIT -- The Warriors did all the scoring in the first half, but the Leopards put all the points on the board after the break.
Bobby Swallow completed 20-of-31 passes for 157 yards for the Warriors (3-4, 1-3 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
Dan Kolp ran for TDs of 5 and 10 yards for Louisville (3-4, 3-1).
