ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOWS
XColumbiana County Career Center Youth Clubs will hold the annual fall craft show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 2 at the center, 9364 state Route 43, Lisbon. Area crafters interested in participating as vendors should call the center at (330) 424-9561 Ext. 131 by Oct. 20.
XNorth Star Patchwork Center, a women's education and economic development project, will sponsor an open house holiday craft show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 16-18 at the Friends House Chapel, 192 Haseltine Ave., Youngstown. Arts and crafts for all seasons will be available. North Star participants have made dolls, quilts, wall hangings, pillows, centerpieces, ornaments, African-American dashikis and queen hats. Orders also will be taken for customized items for weddings, birthdays and other occasions. AUCTIONS
XWarren Rotary will sponsor a community auction Nov. 1 at W.D. Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. The silent auction will be held at 6 p.m. and the live auction at 8:30. There will be hors d'oeuvres and desserts throughout the evening. Proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Warren Foundation. Tickets are $30. CARD PARTIES

COMPETITION
XLeetonia Ruritans will sponsor a pizza challenge from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Leetonia School Cafeteria, 181 Walnut St. Local pizza vendors will compete for the "Best Pizza in Leetonia" award. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and children 6 to 12, and free to those 5 and under.
DINNER-DANCE
XTri-County AIDS Foundation will hold a benefit dinner and dance Saturday at the Organization Civica y Cultural Hispana Hall, 3660 Shirley Road. The buffet dinner at 6 p.m. will be followed by dance music, a live auction, silent auction and Chinese auction. Proceeds will benefit those impacted by AIDS. Items donated for the raffles will be appreciated.
FESTIVALS
XSt. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard, will sponsor an apple fest from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday. A variety of activities and food will be available, and orders are being taken at (330) 545-4351 for prepaid barbecue dinners and whole apple strudels.
FUND-RAISERS
XEaster Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties will hold its first Walk With Me fund-raiser Oct. 25 at Boardman Township Park. Registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and the events starts at 9 and will include one-mile, 3K and 5K routes and a stroller brigade. Participants are asked to solicit and collect contributions in support of the walk. They will be partnered with Easter Seals honorary ambassadors. XLe Cercle Francais will sponsor a wine-tasting fund-raiser from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Youngstown Maennerchor, 831 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown. Wines, hors d'oeuvres and a drawing for prizes will be featured. Cost is $20 per person, and proceeds will go to the group's annual scholarship awards and cultural events. XA holiday bingo is planned by St. Michael Church, 737 Ridge Road, Newton Falls, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Doors will open at 1, and there will be prizes and raffles. Refreshments will be available. Proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Newton Falls Public Library.
XSts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church youth ministry will hold a scholarship benefit from 2 to 8 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. There will be dancing from 4 to 8, ethnic foods including stuffed cabbage, pirogi, kolbasa and haluski, a Chinese auction, bake sale. The grand prize will be a trip for two to Atlantic City. The cost is $5.
LUNCHEON-STYLE SHOWS
XChurch Hill United Methodist Church Relay for Life Team will hold a luncheon and style show at 1 p.m. Sunday at McMenamy's, 325 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles. There will also be Chinese auction. Reservations are due today by calling the church office at (330) 759-0118.

XBrownlee Woods Presbyterian Church, corner of Midlothian Boulevard and Irma Avenue, will sponsor a thrift sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, with the second day being dollar-bag day. Clothing, books and household items will be sold.

XVienna Presbyterian Church, state Route 193 at Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, will sponsor a garage sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be a basket raffle, and lunch will be available. A bag sale will be held from 2 to 3.
